During a global event in New York City, DJI, the world leader in drones for civil use and aerial imaging, presented a new model of the line, the Mavic Mini. The DJI Mavic Mini is foldable and weighs 249 grams. It’s designed for the safety of everyone who wants to experience the feel of riding a drone.
According to the manufacturer, it is fully portable and easy to control. The model features major upgrades when compared to the predecessors in the line, such as Mavic Pro, Mavic Air and Mavic 2.
However, the model is exempt from the other regulations that larger models need, but it is worth observing local rules on drone flights. The manufacturer ensures the high quality of images with the drone camera, and they can be worked through the DJI Fly application.
Flight time and stability have been improved to ensure that the Mavic Mini has one of the largest flight ranges in its class. It also has accessories, including a DIY Creative Kit and a 360° propeller guard for extra safety.
“To design a drone as lightweight, compact yet capable as Mavic Mini was one of the most challenging projects we’ve ever tackled at DJI. Distilling top-of-the-line features into a palm-of-your-hand drone is the culmination of years of work, and we are ecstatic to bring a new class of drone to the DJI lineup. Mavic Mini’s long flight time, ultra-lightweight and high-quality camera makes it DJI’s everyday drone – and most importantly, it’s easy to fly, no matter your experience level with drones.”
Roger Luo, President, DJI
As you can read above, the Mavic Mini is the smallest and lightest drone ever designed by the company, and the first weighing less than 250 grams, a value considered safe by aviation regulators around the world.
The device, in addition to a unique remote control, also features DJI technologies such as geographic demarcation to help pilots avoid restricted areas or the automatic return to starting point function if the drone loses connection to the controller or reaches a critically low battery level.
DJI Mavic Mini Recording Capabilities
The drone captures video at 2.7K at 30fps, 1080p at 60 frames per second, or 12-megapixel photographs using a 1 /2.3-inch sensor. In the app, you can expand the range of possibilities with features like Rocket, Orbit, Propeller, and Dronie, which give different motion and image capture options.
